All young people in secondary school are offered vaccines to protect them against serious diseases.
These vaccines protect against serious and, in some cases, life-threatening diseases, such as meningitis and different cancers.
In S1 they’re offered the HPV vaccine, and in S3, the MenACWY and DTP vaccines.
The NHS in Scotland is encouraging parents, carers and young people to chat about the free vaccines offered, before signing and returning their consent form to school.
For most young people, the vaccines offered in secondary school are the last routine vaccinations they’ll receive.
